Daniel Morel

Chairman and CEO
Wunderman

"One of the things you have to learn as a leader of an agency is to take chances--and be prepared for the outcome either way. It's critical to push boundaries and find new solutions, which in turn leads to new possibilities for our clients."

As chairman and CEO of Wunderman, Daniel Morel is responsible for turning this digital and relationship marketing powerhouse into one of the most formidable digital marketing networks in the world, with 15+ companies, covering every aspect of relationship marketing, and some of the world's best known brands as clients.

After joining the agency in 2001, Daniel reaffirmed its commitment to the fundamental marketing principles and spirit of innovation. He mapped out a strategy for growth which focused on deepening its foothold in the technology sector, which led to global account relationships with IBM, Cisco, Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft. Today, Wunderman is Microsoft's global relationship marketing agency of record, creating and deploying scalable, high-impact, cost-effective campaigns in 40 countries. In 2005, Daniel launched an aggressive strategy to expand the agency's influence in digital direct marketing, acquiring major interactive and web analytics agencies--Blast Radius and ZAAZ among them. Digital programs now account for 60 percent of Wunderman's revenues.

Daniel was a member the Direct Marketing Association's Executive Board of Directors and Chair of its Marketing and Communications Standing Committee from 2004 to 2008. He was president of the IAF's Cannes Lions Direct jury in 2003 and a member of its first ever Titanium jury in 2005. Wunderman work was recognized with the coveted Cannes Lions Direct Grand Prix two years in a row.

Daniel received an MBA from Tulane University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Rennes in France. As a doctoral student at the French CNRS in Paris, his thesis in Economics focused on: "Bullionist controversies from the discovery of the New World to David Ricardo". He joined the French Navy prior to its completion.

When he is not testing and trying out the latest technology, he enjoys backcountry skiing, sailing and taking his new Harley Davidson on extended journeys.
